Confederations Cup 2021 & 2025 (The ones that didn't happen.)

Qualified teams would've been: 

Qatar (as hosts) 

France (as World Champions) 

Japan (as Asia Cup runners-up because Qatar were also Asian Cup Champions) 

Brazil (as Copa América Champions) 

Mexico (as CONCACAF Gold Cup Champions) 

New Zealand (as OFC/Oceania Champions) 

Portugal (as UEFA Euro Champions)* 

Senegal (as AFCON Champions)

*UEFA Euros of 2020 were played in 2021 around the same time the Confed Cup would've been happening so Italy wouldn't have qualified in time for the draw. But if Italy had qualified I wrote how far they'd go in the postcript below.

POT 1: Qatar (the hosts), France (ranked 2nd), Brazil (ranked 3rd), Portugal (ranked 5th) 

POT 2: Mexico (ranked 11th), Senegal (ranked 22nd), Japan (ranked 28th), New Zealand (ranked 122nd) 

Using the draw pattern of Confed Cup 2017, the groups could be arranged as follows: 

Group A: 

QATAR 

PORTUGAL 

MEXICO 

NEW ZEALAND 

Group B: 

FRANCE 

BRAZIL 

SENEGAL 

JAPAN

Doing some guesswork; I imagine Portugal would top Group A with 7/9 points & Mexico could come second with a possible 7/9 points themselves. Qatar would be eliminated with 3/4 points & New Zealand would get no more than a possible 3 points. 

Group B could go: Brazil on top with 7/9 points, France second with anything between a possible 5-9 points, Japan would be eliminated with any number of points between 1-5 & Senegal could've gotten no more than a possible 4 points in Group B by my guesses. 

SEMIFINALS: 

• PORTUGAL versus FRANCE: Even game, either team could've gone through. 

• BRAZIL versus MEXICO: Brazil wins by 2 or more goals. 

FINAL: 

Brazil vs France/Portugal 

Postscript: At this period in time Italy were ranked 7th in the world. They would have topped Group A & lost against France in the semifinals. If not, lost against Brazil in the final game. 

CONFEDERATIONS CUP 2025

Group A: 

Argentina would've topped Group A with 9/12 points, Colombia would've come second with 6-12 points, USA might've come third with 2-9 points, Ivory Coast fourth with 3-9 points & New Zealand could've gotten no more than 1 point in this group. 

Group B: 

France would've topped the group with 7/12 points, Spain would've come second with 7-12 points, Mexico third with 6/7 points, Canada fourth with between 2-6 points & Qatar could've gotten a possible 1/3 points. 

SEMIFINALS: 

Argentina vs. Spain 

Colombia vs. France 

FINALS: 

FRANCE vs. SPAIN
