Confederations Cup 2021 & 2025 (The ones that didn't happen.)

Qualified teams would've been:
Qatar (as hosts)
France (as World Champions)
Japan (as Asia Cup runners-up because Qatar were also Asian Cup Champions)
Brazil (as Copa América Champions)
Mexico (as CONCACAF Gold Cup Champions)
New Zealand (as OFC/Oceania Champions)
Portugal (as UEFA Euro Champions)*
Senegal (as AFCON Champions)

*UEFA Euros of 2020 were played in 2021 around the same time the Confed Cup would've been happening so Italy wouldn't have qualified in time for the draw. But if Italy had qualified I wrote how far they'd go in the postcript below.

Pots
Here are the FIFA Rankings of May 2021: https://inside.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/men?dateId=id13295

POT 1: Qatar (the hosts), France (ranked 2nd), Brazil (ranked 3rd), Portugal (ranked 5th)
POT 2: Mexico (ranked 11th), Senegal (ranked 22nd), Japan (ranked 28th), New Zealand (ranked 122nd)

Using the draw pattern of Confed Cup 2017, the groups could be arranged as follows:

Group A:
QATAR
PORTUGAL
MEXICO
NEW ZEALAND

Group B:
FRANCE
BRAZIL
SENEGAL
JAPAN

Some fantasy art done for the missing Confederations Cup of 2021.

Doing some guesswork; I imagine Portugal would top Group A with 7/9 points & Mexico could come second with a possible 7/9 points themselves. Qatar would be eliminated with 3/4 points & New Zealand would get no more than a possible 3 points.

Group B could go: Brazil on top with 7/9 points, France second with anything between a possible 5-9 points, Japan would be eliminated with any number of points between 1-5 & Senegal could've gotten no more than a possible 4 points in Group B by my guesses.

SEMIFINALS
• PORTUGAL versus FRANCE: Even game, either team could've gone through.
• BRAZIL versus MEXICO: Brazil wins by 2 or more goals.

FINAL
Brazil vs France/Portugal

Postscript: At this period in time Italy were ranked 7th in the world. They would have topped Group A & lost against France in the semifinals. If not, lost against Brazil in the final game.

CONFEDERATIONS CUP 2025
Group A
Argentina would've topped Group A with 9/12 points, Colombia would've come second with 6-12 points, USA might've come third with 2-9 points, Ivory Coast fourth with 3-9 points & New Zealand could've gotten no more than 1 point in this group.

Group B
France would've topped the group with 7/12 points, Spain would've come second with 7-12 points, Mexico third with 6/7 points, Canada fourth with between 2-6 points & Qatar could've gotten a possible 1/3 points.

SEMIFINALS
Argentina vs. Spain
Colombia vs. France

FINALS
FRANCE vs. SPAIN

WINNER of FIFA Confederations Cup 2025

How to earn real money with your smartphone or internet connected device.

There are a few ways to earn a little money online, the most lucrative & riskiest way is through stock trading & online gambling where you are more likely to lose money than gain it in both. But here are two low-risk ways below to earn R250 or more in a few weeks just by being on the internet.

FIRST ROUTE
Join & take surveys on Multipolls on this joining link. 👉🏿 Join Multipolls

SECOND ROUTE:
1. Tap on the invite link at the bottom and create your Luno account.

Scrutinizing Pan-Africanism II

Just a tweet thread that I felt was good enough to be put in a blog because of the noteworthy points put across.

From the @Mnu_Mpofana Twitter/X account:
• The problem is people just saying Africa must "unite" & to me that sounds like imperialism & ethnic warmongering after all the damage Berlin Conference borders have done. It's vain. For example, when Wode Maya says Africa must "unite" - does he want Africa to be under Asante rule?

• Unity for the sake of unity is not always strength. The bigger the union, the easier it is to attack & "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." Rather make ethnic states then standardise; rail, mail, education, road rules & driving licence across the continent FIRST.

• Even if we can standardise these core industries, the best we can hope is to be a federation & not a centralised entity with a unified set of laws.

• I think many Africans get inspiration from USA & EU with the many states cooperation then think we can make our own NATO & pull our resources together forgetting that other countries would have to subsidise others for a centralised continental state to exist.

• Using Ghanaian gold to build Tanzanian infrastructure & using Congolese land & resources to build continental electricity stations for Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic etc. I don't think Ghana & Congo would approve.

I still think it's better to standardise systems than a "United States of Africa". A Pan-African language is also bombastic dreams & would be better replaced with translators. Swahili, Arabic, Portuguese, English, French & Hausa are the biggest languages in Africa. In Uganda, for example, the majority speaks Luganda so would get people who are fluent Luganda speakers & fluent in one of the other six major African languages to be used by diplomats in the AU or on diplomatic missions. If we could simply standardise rail, mail, education, automotive manufacturing industry, air travel, road rules, driving licence & perhaps electricity production across Africa - lots of things could align & become simplified continent-wide without Africa becoming a centralised state.

A non-relegation league model.

My OCD self has trouble trying to accommodate the concept of relegation in sports leagues at times because relegating certain teams could decrease the popularity of the sport in that country & if there's a significant population in the region the relegated team is in, the league could lose some financial income & so the entire concept of relegation could many times be "counter progress" because the teams coming in from lower leagues often have a lot less fans than the relegated team. And, of course, I have a solution - a league model that could encourage community spirit in a league where teams are not relegated. Here it is:

No relegation. Formalities aside, the allotted teams would only be removed from the league if they can literally no longer continue due to finances or dire lack of population interested in playing for the regional team.
Regional teams. Teams could be spaced provincially to ensure everyone has a team that would represent their province/state/district in the league & bigger cities could have two or three teams. These regional teams could be entire multi-sport academies where talent is developed
Hometown heroes. Players would only be allowed to represent the team/academy closest to their place of birth in the top two tiers of a national league structure. From the third tier going down, they could play for any team in the land. This will encourage a concept of local pride & loyalty to home teams when familiar local faces are running in the team.
Youth protection. Only players that are 25 years & older would be allowed to play overseas or be transferred overseas, borrowing from the Croatian model. This is to ensure that a footballer gains some grounding at home before heading to foreign lands.

This model would ensure that no one plays for a team then plays for their rival for revenge or to cause turmoil. It would also ensure consistency.

If this model would be implemented in South Africa the team allocation would look something like this:
Johannesburg (Kaizer Chiefs & Supersport United), Durban (AmaZulu & Lamontville Golden Arrows / Durban City) & Cape Town would get two teams each.
• One team each for; Soweto (Orlando Pirates), Pretoria (Mamelodi Sundowns), Pietermaritzburg, Soshanguve, Newcastle, East London, Gqeberha, Mahikeng, Kimberley, Polokwane, Mbombela & Bloemfontein

This allocation of teams / academies would be for all sports. Thus, having several sport disciplines under one name & academy structure for a national league.
